Marcus Rashford reacts to Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young Man United reunion

Marcus Rashford reacted to a reunion between former Man United stars after Aston Villa’s biggest game of the season.

The 27-year-old is finding his footballing feet whilst on loan in the Midlands, and almost helped Aston Villa secure an unlikely comeback against PSG, before losing 5-4 on aggregate, where Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young were together on the Amazon Prime Video pundit line up.

Meanwhile, Rooney has been linked with Blackburn Rovers, having been out of management since leaving Plymouth Argyle in December, and ex-Man United captain called for Rashford to return to Old Trafford in the summer following the Champions League clash.

Whilst both are still trying to find their place in the footballing world, with speculation Rashford may not even join Villa this summer, Young has been diligently plying his trade with Everton since joining the club in 2023.

Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young enjoy Man United reunion

Having played together between 2011 and 2017, Young and Rooney reunited as part of the Amazon Prime Video punditry team for PSG’s clash with Villa.

Several images of the pair together, plus one with Rashford included were shared on Instagram, captioned: “Good times were had between these two…”.

The Villa winger liked the post, likely fondly reminiscing back to happy United days for the 27-year-old.

Football Insider Verdict

It’s hard not to get romantic when it comes to football. Rashford’s journey from academy prospect, to first-team regular is genuinely the stuff of dreams.

Unfortunately, his shunning by Ruben Amorim seems to have resulted in the positives being cast to the wayside.

Instead, the end of Rashford‘s time in Manchester, being dropped for a lack of effort, struggling to find his form, generally looking despondent every time he stepped foot on a football pitch, feels like the things that he will be remembered for.

The worst part about the ordeal for United fans, at least the ones who stuck by the winger, is that he clearly wasn’t the problem, the 27-year-old’s form at Villa proves that.

Time heals all wounds, and whilst he will undoubtedly be a player most in Manchester reminisce about down the line, one cant help but wonder, what could have been.
