Marcus Rashford to Tottenham: O’Rourke updates on summer transfer
Tottenham will find a deal for long-term target Marcus Rashford difficult to do, sources have told Football Insider.
The 27-year-old, currently on loan with Aston Villa, is admired in the corridors of power at Spurs.
However, sources say Tottenham will need to win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League to have any chance of attracting Rashford to the club.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are the forward’s first-choice but major question marks prevail over how the Catalan giants would fund a move.
Spurs need Champions League to attract Rashford
Rashford can join Villa permanently this summer for a fee of £40million, as agreed in the loan deal which saw him leave Man United earlier this year.
Champions League football is the England international’s priority after getting his latest taste of Europe’s elite competition with Villa this season.

Rashford has picked up a hamstring injury and is not expected to play again this season – but could return for England’s World Cup qualifiers in June.
He has notched four goals and six assists in 17 appearances across all competitions during his time with Villa.
The 27-year-old’s lucrative contract with Man United is set to run until June 2028.

Bournemouth move to block Spurs’ Iraola approach
Meanwhile, Andoni Iraola has also been linked with the potential vacancy at Tottenham as the summer approaches.
Football Insider revealed on 18 April that Iraola has been offered a new contract as Bournemouth attempt to prevent him joining Spurs.
Ange Postecoglou is on borrowed time at Spurs despite reaching the Europa League semi-final this season – where they will face Bodo/Glimt across two legs.
