Marcus Rashford ‘will cost £100m’ in jaw-dropping Man United update
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford would be a “gamble” for any clubs interested in signing him in the January transfer window as the cost of the deal is a staggering “£100million”.
That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider it would require a “massive” investment to agree a deal for the England international.
In an interview with journalist Henry Winter on 17 December, Rashford revealed he is “ready for a new challenge and the next steps”.
But the 27-year-old’s deal, which is believed to be worth in excess of £325,000 a week, isn’t set to expire until 2028.
Ruben Amorim hasn’t named the forward in five of his past six squads as speculation intensifies around his future at Old Trafford.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 29 December, The Athletic’s Andy Mitten revealed every Man United manager he has spoken to over the past few years “has had issues with Marcus Rashford”.
Man United exit could prove difficult for Marcus Rashford
Borson insisted a permanent deal for Rashford would cost around £100million due to the fee involved and his wage demands.
He told Football Insider: “It’s hard to say what the solution is for that situation, just because of the cost.
“That is a deal where the total expenditure of that deal is going to be £100million.
“If you read some of the stuff that’s been written recently from some of the people that have followed United for years, I did see a piece from Andy Mitten where he said he’d spoken to every manager for the last few years who have all had problems with Rashford.

“If you have got a player where there is a gamble element to it and, then on top of that it’s going to cost £100million over four or five years, it’s just a massive investment for a club.
“We know there are very few clubs that can afford £100million.”
