‘Marcus Rashford will never play for Man United again – it’s done’

Marcus Rashford’s future has been a source of constant speculation since his loan move to Aston Villa from Man United in the mid-season transfer window.

Impressive displays under Unai Emery have seen him linked with a move to a number of Europe’s top clubs, while a permanent move to Villa Park is also possible.

A return to Man United has also been suggested in recent weeks as his boyhood club remain keen to strengthen in the wide areas and up front this summer.

However, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that a return to Old Trafford is now completely off the table.

Villa’s long-term interest has also been thrown into question after Ollie Watkins made his feelings public about potentially being replaced in the starting XI.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Villa could sell Watkins and sign Rashford with the money raised from his departure this summer.

Man United make Marcus Rashford exit decision

Football Insider revealed on 4 April that Rashford will leave Man United this summer regardless of his performances for Villa since his loan move.

The likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich are interested in Rashford, while a move from United to Tottenham has been suggested, as clubs line up for his signature.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson explained that while the forward is set to leave Man United, his future remains up in the air as Villa are not certain to activate their £40million buy clause.

It’s quite obvious his time at Man United is done,” he told Football Insider.

“As long as Ruben Amorim is the manager, Marcus Rashford hasn’t got a future there.

“Watkins has spoken out publicly about his position, that will put a doubt in Unai Emery’s mind about whether Villa take him permanently.

“The biggest thing is Champions League football.

“For £40million, it’s not a big transfer fee, but his wages and everything else is a big hit.

Aston Villa could struggle to sign Marcus Rashford

The latest speculation about Rashford’s future comes after Football Insider revealed Villa will struggle to sign Rashford permanently if they miss out on the Champions League.

Alongside the financial boost it would bring, Rashford is believed to be keen on playing Champions League football this season and will prioritise playing in the competition.

Football Insider revealed on 31 March that Villa face paying £130million over five years in wages and transfer fee if they sign Rashford at his current £350,000-a-week salary.

The initial £40million buy-out clause in his loan deal is seen as a good deal for Unai Emery’s side, but his wages have made the move expensive.
