Mario Lemina breaks silence with ‘truth’ message after Jarrod Bowen bust-up

Wolves midfielder Mario Lemina has taken to social media to address the fans after his on-field bust-up with West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen.

West Ham emerged as 2-1 victors in ‘El Sackio’ on Monday (December 9), with goals from Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen providing manager Julen Lopetegui some much-needed breathing room.

Tempers flared post-match as 31-year-old Lemina found himself in a scuffle with Bowen before redirecting his frustration toward his own teammates, Toti Gomes and Nelson Semedo.

The central midfielder then turned on Wolves coach Shaun Derry before eventually settling down and leaving the pitch.

Lemina has been integral to Wolves this season, starting 14 of his 17 games across all competitions, scoring one goal, and providing three assists in 1313 minutes of action.

Gary O’Neil’s side remain in the relegation zone, four points adrift of Crystal Palace in 17th, with two wins, three draws, and ten defeats from their 15 Premier League games.

Pressure builds on Wolves boss Gary O’Neil as Mario Lemina loses his head

Football Insider revealed (December 10) that Wolves have started looking at candidates to replace O’Neil, but it would be a “tough sell” to any potential new managers.

Emotions are riding high at the club, with Lemina taking to Instagram to address the situation and apologise to the fans for his reaction.

Lemina’s statement says: “I write this message with great hindsight, and I really want to apologise to all the people who love this club and who love football, I never wanted this to happen on the ground. I have always been a fair player, even in defeat.

“If something is said, make sure the truth comes out. I shook this player’s hand, as I always do, and I was grabbed by the shirt and thrown to the ground. I just reacted to a situation that I didn’t cause at all.

“I love my team, the staff and all the people who make up this club. We [are] all gonna fight harder to overcome this situation. Shaun you already know. We gonna fight again and again.”
