Mark Lawrenson predicts Tottenham v Hull
By Harvey Byrne
Mark Lawrenson has backed Tottenham to secure a 3-0 victory against Hull on Wednesday evening at White Hart Lane.
The BBC pundit hailed Spurs as a good team, but stated they lack a cutting edge when they are ordinary.
However, he believes that the clash against the Tigers will see the north London outfit produce one of their good performances.
He stated that Mike Phelan’s team offer too many chances and he is expecting Spurs to profit.
“Tottenham are clearly a good side but there is a ‘but’ and the but is there are a lot of games when they are ordinary and they don’t have a cutting edge,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“This should not be one of them. Hull got something out of their topsy-turvy game against Crystal Palace at the weekend but they let opposing teams have a lot of chances.”
Tottenham are coming off the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
They will be hoping for an immediate bounce back from the loss against a team struggling in 19th.
The goal for Spurs is to improve on last season’s third place finish and they are currently three points behind Manchester City in fourth.
Mauricio Pochettino’s outfit are strong favourites for the clash at White Hart Lane and they will be buoyed by the fact they have won six of the last eight meetings between the sides.
The two clubs last met in May 2015 with goals from Nacer Chadli and Danny Rose ensuring a 2-0 victory for their team.
