Mark Lawrenson delivers Tottenham title verdict

Mark Lawrenson has shared that he believes Tottenham don’t have to enough to win the Premier League this season.

The north London club are sat in second place in the league table with 12 points currently between them and league leaders Chelsea.

They also came close to their first league victory in the last campaign, but an end of season collapse saw them finish in third place and 11 points behind eventual winners Leicester.

Now, BBC pundit Lawrenson has told that he thinks Tottenham don’t have the strength to win the title and that they still need add better players to compliment their stars.

“Don’t see them (Tottenham) winning it again,” started Lawrenson speaking on Saturday morning’s Football Focus show on BBC 1.

“I would say they probably needed a little bit of an upgrade in terms of players alongside Kane and Alli. I think they draw a lot of games. I think they’re extremely well organised, defensively they’re very, very good, but just a little bit short.”

Mauricio Pochettino didn’t bring in a single player in, in January after bringing in five players in the summer.

Of those, only Victor Wanyama from Southampton has proven that he has what it takes to play consistently at Tottenham and the combative midfielder has played 29 times in all competitions.

But, the Argentine has shown that he has faith in his side and has handed big contract extensions to a number of his key players this season, including the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris.
