Martin Odegaard: David Ornstein reveals ‘concerning’ news from Arsenal source
Arsenal could be without Martin Odegaard for a prolonged period of time as his injury looks to be a “significant” one.
The 25-year-old missed out on Arsenal’s 1-0 win against Tottenham last weekend (15 September) after he suffered an injury during the international break.
When speaking on The Athletic FC podcast, David Ornstein revealed: “It looks like a significant injury, but look, we don’t know.
“The last I heard, they didn’t have the full clarity from the scan still, because of the extent of the swelling, but the extent of the swelling concerns you, if you’re an Arsenal fan.”
With another international break right around the corner, there is hope that the club captain will have time to recover.
Arsenal will face Atalanta in their first Champions League game on Thursday (19 September) and will then play Man City in the Premier League on Sunday (22 September).
Arsenal might have to cope without Martin Odegaard moving forward
The creative midfielder had started in all of Arsenal’s opening three games, but his ankle issue kept him out of the North London derby.
The Gunners were still managed to pick up three points against their local rivals, moving up to second in the Premier League in the process.
However, Arsenal might have to prepare for a long period without the Norway international due to the extent of the injury.

Odegaard isn’t Arsenal’s only injury concern either as Mikel Merino is also on the sidelines with a shoulder issue.
Riccardo Calafiori also got hurt during the recent international break, which is keeping him out of action and stretching Mikel Arteta’s resources.
