Mason Mount reacts to Bruno Fernandes as Man United transfer moves closer

Bruno Fernandes has caught the eye of Manchester United teammate Mason Mount, amid news that the Red Devils are set to secure their second signing of the summer.

Fernandes has been at Old Trafford since his move from Sporting Lisbon five and a half years ago, and became captain of the club ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Last season, the Portuguese midfielder was part of the United team which fell to their worst ever Premier League finish of 15th, picking up just 42 points.

However, it could have been worse if it wasn’t for the 30-year-old, who scored eight goals and picked up 10 assists for Ruben Amorim’s side.

Fernandes wins Nations League

Over the past few weeks, Fernandes had been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, which would have reportedly earned him £700,000 per week.

However, the United captain will remain at Old Trafford after turning down the offer of a switch to the Middle East.

With the transfer rumours settled, Fernandes jetted off on international duty, to take part in the finals of the UEFA Nations League.

Portugal defeated Germany in the semis, before beating Spain on penalties in the final, with the Red Devils midfielder scoring in the shootout.

To celebrate, Fernandes posted a photo on Instagram, which showed him carrying the Nations League trophy over his shoulder.

Club teammate Mount liked the post to show his appreciation.

United ‘close’ to Mbeumo agreement

Football Insider Verdict

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively revealed to Football Insider that the Red Devils are close to reaching an agreement to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

Brown added that the 25-year-old is pushing to make the move to Old Trafford, and has made his desire known in West London.

Both Arsenal and Newcastle have reportedly held an interest in the Cameroon international, but he has his heart set on Man United.

Mbeumo scored 20 goals and picked up seven assists for Brentford last season, as well as playing every single Premier League game for the Bees.

The winger is set to be Amorim’s second incoming of the summer, after United confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
