‘Massive’ Leeds United relegation claim issued by Agbonlahor – ‘I’d bet anything on it’

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted he would “bet anything” on Leeds United beating Brentford on the final day of the Premier League season (22 May).

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted he wanted Leeds to stay up and it would be “massive” for the club.

They are a point ahead of 18th-place Burnley who travel to Villa on Thursday night (19 May) desperate for a result.

If Burnley lose at Villa Park Leeds will know a win at Brentford will confirm their top-flight status for another season.

“I actually think they will beat Brentford away,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Brentford are in good form and it’s their last game of the season at home but when you are fighting for your life and you know if you win you’ve got a chance of staying up, you are winning that game.

“If Leeds go into the last game knowing a win will keep them in the Premier League, they are winning that game. I’d bet anything on Leeds winning that game and staying up.

“Burnley need to keep it in their own hands, they need to get something against Villa. If they don’t get anything from that game then I think Leeds beat Brentford but I also think Burnley will beat Newcastle at Turf Moor.

“Everton will stay up comfortably. I think they will beat Crystal Palace and Arsenal.

Leeds United

Burnley won’t want it to be in Leeds’ hands because both teams will win on the final day of the season.

“It’s massive for Leeds to stay up. I’ve had banter with Leeds fans for a couple of years but I want them to stay up, they’re a big club with a big fan base and play entertaining football.”
