Sam Johnstone will be "annoyed" West Brom priced him out of a move and will leave on a free transfer next summer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa striker insisted the goalkeeper deserves to be playing in the Premier League.

Football Insider revealed on 13 August that Johnstone is set to stay at the Hawthorns beyond the summer after he was priced out of a West Ham move.

He wanted to quit West Brom but saw dreams of a move to West Ham evaporate after they signed Alphonse Areola on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

Asked for his assesment of Johnstone's future, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: "I think he'll just wait until next summer.

"I've spoken to him...I speak to Sam now and then. He'll want to play in the Premier League. He's just got in the England squad for the Euros and will want to get into the England squad for the World Cup. He wants to play in the Premier League and he's good enough to play in the Premier League.

"West Brom priced him out of a move so I don't see him signing a new contract to do them a favour. I think he'll be stubborn and annoyed and will want to leave at the end of the season.

"We're nearly in September now, before you know it it'll be May and he'll be talking about a move to a Premier League club."

Johnstone's fine form for West Brom last season earned him a place in the England squad for the European Championship.

The 28-year-old made his debut for the Three Lions in a pre-tournament friendly agianst Romania.
