Sources: Birmingham City, Middlesbrough and QPR in race to sign Gray

Birmingham City, Middlesbrough and QPR have joined the race for Watford striker Andre Gray, Football Insider has learned.

The Premier League new boys have given the 30-year-old the green light to leave before the window shuts on 31 August.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Championship trio QPR, Boro and Birmingham have all registered their interest in signing Gray on loan.

This site previously revealed on 17th August that West Brom and Swansea City are also keen on the front man.

Gray has just 12 months left to run on his Watford contract and the club are keen to offload him this summer.

He was not included in the matchday squad for their 3-2 victory over Aston Villa at the weekend.

Gray’s Vicarage Road career has never really burst into life after he joined Watford from Burnley in 2018.

The Jamaica international has scored 21 goals in 125 games across all competitions for the Hornets.

Last season he only scored five times in 30 Championship appearances.

However, his overall record in the Championship is impressive, scoring 46 goals and chipping in with 19 assists across 118 outings

On 17th August, this site revealed Middlesbrough are in advanced talks to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Andraz Sporar.

Neil Warnock is keen to add to his attack before the transfer window shuts.

Meanwhile, QPR have signed Charlie Austin on a free transfer after his loan spell last season.

Birmingham have signed Chuks Aneke to bolster their attacking options.
