Exclusive: Three clubs trigger 5-figure release clause for Sheffield United & Burnley target

Northern Premier League side Hyde United have accepted bids from three clubs for Burnley and Sheffield United 2020 target Paddy Lane, Football Insider can reveal.

National League clubs Stockport County and Altrincham along with National League North side Farsley Celtic have triggered the 19-year-old winger's five-figure release clause.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that there is also strong interest in Lane from League Two sides Tranmere Rovers and Port Vale.

Rovers and Vale are yet to submit formal offers for Lane but have been asked to be kept informed of the situation.

With the Northern Premier League suspended last month, Lane spent a productive month on loan with Farsley Celtic where his performances have caught the eye.

He produced four assists in five appearances for Celtic and averaged 1.2 assists every 90 minutes.

Before moving temporarily to West Yorkshire, Lane had scored three goals and provided three assists in eight games for Hyde this campaign.

Last season he scored nine goals and laid on three assists for the Tigers and attracted the interest of Football League newboys Harrogate Town.

He was set to sign for Town until the impact of coronavirus meant the finances of the deal became difficult for the League Two side.

Now it seems he is finally set to quit Ewen Fields with Tranmere and Port Vale possible destinations.
