Celtic news: McAvennie shares 'incredible' Ange Postecoglou claim after what he's heard
Frank McAvennie has claimed it must be "incredibly difficult" for Ange Postecoglou to get his message across to Celtic players who speak different languages.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said it must also be hard for players who don't speak the language to train.
The Celts currently have three Japanese players in the squad who require an interpreter, Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda.
On 6 November sources told this site that the Green and Whites have agreed terms with the trio's fellow countryman Yuki Kobayashi.
The Hoops are close to agreeing a deal to land the centre-back in January.
Whilst the signing would no doubt be a welcome addition for the Japanese trio, McAvennie insisted it must be difficult for both the players and manager to overcome the language barrier.
"They have got interpreters sitting on the bench and out on the training pitch," he told Football Insider.
"It must be incredibly difficult for the manager to try and get all that sunk into players when there is so many nationalities.
"From what I hear they are training with the players so that if the manager shouts at them they know what he is saying. It must be hard for the players."
Earlier this year, as quoted by the Daily Record (10 March), Postecoglou recalled an incident during his time in the J-League that saw his interpreter shown a yellow card.
The Australian tried to have a word with the official after Yokohoma F Marinos' second goal was disallowed and whilst it was translated to the official it was the interpreter who was booked for Postecoglou's protests.
