Everton fans have taken to Twitter to rage after it emerged that former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is now second favourite to replace Ronald Koeman in the Goodison Park hotseat.

SkyBet have van Gaal, 66, priced at 100/30 to become the next permanent Toffees boss after what has now been a four-week-long search for Koeman's successor.

Van Gaal has been out of work since the end of the 2015/16 season when he was sacked by Man United, just two days after he managed to lift the FA Cup.

However he is held in low regard by most fans it seems after what was a tough campaign for him at Old Trafford.

Everton fans seem to share that thought with the Dutchman now one of the frontrunners for the job, with many not happy with the idea that he could become the next manager at Goodison Park.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Van Gaal won the Champions League title with Ajax in 1995 and has also won seven league titles with four different clubs across spells with the Amsterdam giants, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and AZ.

Watford manager Marco Silva (4/6) continues to stay as favourite to be the next Everton boss while current caretaker manager David Unsworth (4/1) is now third in the running.
