Rangers are set to open talks with Ryan Kent over a new contract after fending off Leeds United interest, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Premier League club have had a bid worth up to £10m including add-ons knocked back by the Glasgow giants after Kent made it clear he wanted to stay at Ibrox.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Rangers are ready to offer Kent a new and improved deal to replace the one he signed last year.

The winger became the Light Blues' second-most expensive ever signing when he joined permanently from Liverpool for around £7million.

He penned a deal worth around £20,000-a-week and that runs until 2023.

But Rangers are keen to recognise the wide forward's growing status in their title-challenging side.

Kent has been in outstanding form season the new campaign started in early August and has supplanted Alfredo Morelos as the biggest matchwinner in Steven Gerrard's side.

Football Insider exclusively revealed last month that Kent has a £20million release clause in his contract.

That opened the door to a new bid from Leeds but Kent was keen to remain in Glasgow.

Former Liverpool star Kent has delivered a series of man-of-the-match displays in the new campaign and his nine matches have yielded four goals and three assists.
