Leeds United have approached Derby on multiple occasions with enquiries about striker Chris Martin, according to a reliable journalist. Freelance reporter Joe Rawson claimed on his

on Monday that Leeds may be trying to sign Martin, 29, on loan from Pride Park, however the centre-forward's wages are said to be an issue.

claimed in their live transfer blog on Monday [04:00pm] that

. Martin has been a regular feature for Derby this season but has not started a Championship game in over a month. The former Norwich and Crystal Palace target man has made 25 appearances in all competitions this term, but has only scored one goal. Leeds are struggling for goals themselves this season after selling Chris Wood to Burnley for £15million in the summer. Thomas Christiansen tried to replace the New Zealand international with Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Jay-Roy Grot, but neither have been a success at Elland Road.

Football Insider verdict

Martin has not been in the best of form this season but he has not been the main striker at Pride Park. If he was to move to Leeds, there would be more emphasis on him getting goals and that should see him start to pick up his form again. Martin is experienced at playing at the top end of the Championship so would be a good addition for Leeds. The Scotland international is a clear improvement on Lasogga and Grot and he would also be a solid option to rotate around with Kemar Roofe if Christiansen is looking to switch up the way his team plays.
