Leeds are not interested in signing Premier League strikers Danny Ings, Dwight Gayle and Nahki Wells, according to a reliable journalist.

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Lee Sobot claimed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning that the only options currently being considered by the Whites are Hamburg's Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Malmo's Pawel Cibicki.

The Daily Mail has recently reported that Leeds have made contact with Huddersfield over the availability of Wells after he dropped down their pecking order following last seasons promotion to the Premier League while there has been no link made between Gayle and the Elland Road club other than speculation.

Leeds are in the hunt for a new striker before the deadline is reached later this week following Chris Wood's £15million move to Burnley.

Dutch teenager Jay-Roy Grot has since been snapped up by the Whites but an injury to Caleb Ekuban means that Thomas Christiansen is facing a late rush to fill the void left by the New Zealand international.

Football Insider Verdict

It's no surprise that Leeds are not pursuing this trio of Premier League strikers. Ings is way to susceptible to injury to become a reliable source of goals for the Whites while it would perhaps infuriate fans if they raid their fierce local rivals Huddersfield for Wells. Gayle would have been the best choice of the three but he would perhaps be way too expensive for the club given how short of options Newcastle are in attack at the moment. He is also in and out of the team with injury in recent months, so that is perhaps another reason why he wouldn't be good for the Whites at this moment in time.
