Burnley and Vincent Kompany are keen to add a prolific goalscorer to their ranks in the final weeks of the window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Clarets have added no fewer than 11 new faces following their promotion back to the Premier League as champions, spending a reported £78million.

But it is believed Burnley are not quite finished in the market, with more business expected before the 1 September deadline.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Lancashire side are looking at potential striker targets - and money has been set aside to do a deal.

Kompany, who took charge at Turf Moor last summer (2022), believes signing a prolific new forward is key to his side's Premier League survival.

Burnley have already signed Basel striker Zeki Amdouni this summer after he notched 22 goals for the Swiss giants last season.

A host of wingers have also been signed by the Clarets - including Wilson Odobert, Luca Koleosho, Nathan Redmond and Jacob Bruun Larsen.

Wout Weghorst, who signed for Burnley in the Premier League last January, has departed for Hoffenheim on a season-long loan.

Kompany's side started the new season with a 3-0 defeat at home against Man City last week (11 August).

The Clarets face Aston Villa next (27 August), before taking on Nottingham Forest in the League Cup (30 August) just days before the transfer deadline.
