Bristol City, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and Stoke City have joined the chase for Ipswich Town midfielder Flynn Downes, Football Insider has learned.

Bournemouth have been linked with a move for the midfielder, 22, in this summer’s window.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that four other Championship clubs - City, Boro, Forest and Stoke - have registered their interest in Downes.

He could head out of Portman Road with a year remaining on his contract.

Downes submitted a transfer request last Summer after Ipswich turned down bids from Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.

In an interview with the East Anglian Daily Times on 29th January, he insisted he had “no regrets” as he backed himself to perform at a higher level.

The midfielder made 24 League One appearances for Ipswich as they finished ninth last season.

He started 17 of those games and even captained the Tractor Boys on two occasions in February.

The Ipswich academy graduate is one appearance away from making his 100th outing for the club.

He joined the East Anglian outfit in 2006 and signed his first professional contract in 2017.

Downes' only move away from Ipswich was a loan move to Luton in 2018 where he made 10 appearances.

Ipswich have already sold midfielder Andre Dozzell this summer

He joined QPR on a three-year contract back in June.
