Paul Robinson is over the moon to hear Tottenham are re-opening talks to sign Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said signing the 26-year-old for a fee in the region of £25million would be "a no-brainer".

Tottenham's top priority in the next window is to recruit a world-class centre-half after a season of inconsistent performances from Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez.

When asked for his thoughts on the potential signing of Skriniar, Robinson told Football Insider: "£25million for a player of that quality, it is a great price.

"If they can get him in for that kind of money it is a no-brainer.

"The problem is, they need two centre-halves. Mourinho does not trust the current crop that he has got.

"There is clearly a problem with Alderweireld and Sanchez has got an error in his game. They have conceded far too many goals this season and a lot of them have been because of individual mistakes.

"It is not going to be an easy market to operate in though, just look at the problems Liverpool had in January, look at who they ended up recruiting. There is going to a lot of teams chasing centre-halves in this window so Spurs need to be clever."
