West Brom have been in contact with Rangers about the possibility of signing Alfredo Morelos before the transfer window shuts, Football Insider can reveal.

Speculation has been rife about the Colombia international, 24, quitting Ibrox but a move has yet to materialise despite extensive talks behind the scenes.

A West Brom source has told Football Insider the club have now registered their interest in landing Morelos as they look to recruit multiple centre-forwards.

The Premier League new boys have irons in the fire on a number of fronts.

Talks are advanced over signing Huddersfield Town's Karlan Grant for £16m plus add-ons, while discussions have also been held about a deal for Watford's Troy Deeney.

West Brom are expected to spend big on at least two centre-forwards before the window shuts.

Now they have turned their attention to Morelos, who is keen to play in one of Europe's top leagues after three goal-drenched years in Glasgow.

It remains to be seen if they will offer the £17m that Lille had discussed paying the Light Blues for their prize asset.

Rangers have paved the way for Morelos to leave by signing two new strikers during the summer.

Kemar Roofe joined from Anderlecht for around £4.5million and Cedric Itten signed from St Gallen for around £2.7m.

Morelos continued to lead the line for Rangers at the start of the season but has been dropped from the XI for the last two matches.
