Polish sensation Piotr Zielinski has revealed he has held transfer talks with Liverpool.

The Udinese midfielder has been closely linked with a move to Anfield, and Football Insider revealed in February that the 21-year-old is being extensively scouted by Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Merseysiders are ready to pay around £12million for Zielinksi, who is in one of Europe's most highly rated young central midfielders.

“There is a lot of truth in rumours about Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is interested in me, we had some talks,” Zielinski told Polish publication Sportowe Fakty, as quoted by Goal.

"I’m not thinking too much about it right now though, I've still got few games to play for Empoli and after that there is still the Euros in France."

Zielinski, who is on a season-long loan at Empoli, has been one of the stand-out central midfielders in Serie A this season after establishing himself as a mainstay of the side.

The Poland international has made 30 league appearances this season for the 12th-placed team and weighed in with a highly creditable four goals and five assists from midfield.

Zielinski, who is in line to play a starring role for Poland in this summer’s European Championships after earning 13 international caps, has only a year remaining on his Udinese contract.

In other Liverpool transfer news, the Merseysiders are monitoring two Arsenal players.
