Mateus Mane ‘pushing’ to leave Wolves – ‘I expect him to go’
Wolves may accept an offer for Mateus Mane in the January transfer window if the forward does not want to play in the Championship next season.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes Mane will not be at Wolves if they are relegated from the Premier League.
Wolves have no intention of selling Mane, but the 18-year-old has emerged as an exciting talent out of Molineux.
Chelsea and Man City have shown interest in Mane, whilst Newcastle have also emerged as contenders for the teenager.
Mateus Mane expected to leave Wolves
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks more clubs will want to sign Mane in the summer if his impressive form continues.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes Mane is “pushing” for a Wolves exit.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, I think it’s more about Mane pushing to move on himself. He seems to have got a lot of attention just for a couple of good games.
“You know, it’s almost like buying a player from after a good competition in the Euros or something like that. I think he’s perhaps getting a little bit too much attention right now because, you know, he’ll soon be found out, and they’ll be able to work out how to mark him better.
“But certainly, look, he’s a talent, there’s no doubt. He’s taken the goals very well. He’s shown some explosive pace. But would Wolves want to sell him? Well, I think it’d be a case of he will want to go. He doesn’t want to play in the Championship.
“And I think right now is his chance to agitate for a move. And for Wolves, if he’s not going to stay in the Championship with them or play properly for them, then I think they’re going to have to cash in now. But I do think it would be a summer move and I think that’s when the right price would come for Wolves.
“And I think there’ll be a market for a young talent like him, and it’d probably be better with more clubs in the market in the summer time. So I don’t expect him to go in January, but I do expect him to probably go.”

Wolves braced for offer on star
Wolves manager Rob Edwards could be faced with a second departure to his attacking options.
PSV are readying an offer for Hwang Hee-chan, with the Dutch club wanting to sign the forward in January.
The 29-year-old has been revitalised since Edwards’ arrival, but he has only netted twice in 17 Premier League appearances this season.
