Matt Doherty and 23-year-old could exit Tottenham after journalist’s transfer update – expert
Tottenham could sell both Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal as part of “a clear out” in the summer transfer window.
That is the view of former White Hart Lane number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the potential consequences of Djed Spence’s prospective moved to north London.
According to the Northern Echo‘s Scott Wilson (5 June), Tottenham are leading the race for Spence with Forest already lining up alternatives to the Middlesbrough wing-back.

Antonio Conte used both Matt Doherty, 30, and Emerson Royal, 23, in the right wing-back role in the 2021-22 campaign.
According to the Express‘ Ryan Taylor (5 June), Tottenham would be open to offers for the two players if a deal for Spence gets over the line.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the duo’s future, Robinson said: “There is going to be a clear out.
“Emerson Royal is probably not going to be there. He improved in the last few games of the season but he is still not quite at the level required.
“I wonder whether Doherty will be around or not even though he played very well last season.
“The fact Conte is targeting that area tells you that he is not happy with what he has got.”

Emerson Royal has four years remaining on his contract with Spurs.
Doherty has just two years remaining on his current deal.
