Matty Cash hails Nottingham Forest teammate after debut, predicts big things

By Harvey Byrne

Nottingham Forest midfielder Matty Cash took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to hail teammate Ben Brereton after he made his debut for the club on Wednesday evening.

The 17-year-old forward made his first appearance in the senior team against Leeds at Elland Road as a 76 minute substitute.

He was unable to have an effect on the score line in the 2-0 defeat, but the match would have still been good experience for the emerging youngster.

Cash, 19, broke through the youth team like Brereton and has established himself in the first team this campaign after making his debut in the season opener against Burton.

Speaking on his personal Twitter account on Thursday afternoon, the young midfielder hailed Brereton and shared that he was predicting big things from his teammate.

Current caretaker boss Gary Brazil has been at the famous club for a number of years after being appointed academy manager in 2014.

He will be fully aware of the club’s young talents and fans may be hoping to see more young players break into the first team while he’s in charge.

The Forest academy has produced a number of top quality players in the past, including Jermaine Jenas, Michael Dawson, Wes Morgan and most recently Oliver Burke.

Fans will now be hoping the likes of Cash and Brereton can be remembered alongside those names.
