Matty Cash reacts to Andres Garcia after new Aston Villa man took his place
Aston Villa defender Matty Cash has reacted to his new teammate Andres Garcia after he made his home debut against Tottenham.
Garcia was left out of Aston Villa’s Champions League squad, in favour of Axel Disasi, Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio.
The Spanish right-back made his debut with the Villains in a 2-0 loss to Wolves at Molineux Stadium on 1 February, being taken off at half-time.
In a 2-1 victory over Spurs on Sunday (9 February), Garcia looked much more comfortable, performing well up against Heung-Min Son and Mathys Tel, who Tottenham signed from Bayern Munich in the winter transfer window.
Jacob Ramsey opened the scoring in the second minute, as Antonin Kinsky fumbled the Englishman’s shot into the back of the net, a second major error in as many games for the Czech goalkeeper, Kinsky gave away a penalty against Liverpool in Spurs’ 4-0 Carabao Cup loss.
Morgan Rogers doubled Villa’s lead, and despite a late goal from Tel, the Midlands side were comfortable for most of the match, and ran out deserved winners.

Following Villa’s 2-1 win over Spurs, Garcia posted on his Instagram an image of himself in action, captioned: “What a feeling to make my debut at Villa Park with a victory surrounded by a great team!
Amazing support in the FA Cup, Villains!”

That post was liked by teammates Lamare Bogarde and Cash.
Cash has been struggling with an injury picked up in the 4-2 win over Celtic (29 January), in the Champions League.
Following Kosta Nedeljkovic’s January loan move to RB Leipzig, Garcia was signed from Levante to act as understudy to the Polish international , and showed his capabilities against Spurs.
New January signings Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio impress for Aston Villa
Marcus Rashford was signed by Aston Villa from Man United in the January transfer window, and was brought off the bench by Unai Emery in the 67th minute against Spurs.
The Englishman impressed, giving right-back Pedro Porro a tough time and showing why Aston Villa fans are excited to have Rashford.
Marco Asensio, a three-time Champions League winner during his time at Real Madrid, was signed on loan from PSG, was brought on alongside Rashford for his debut as a Villain.
The Spaniard showed some lovely technical ability and impressed in his cameo off the bench.
