Mauricio Pochettino backed to make sensational Tottenham return after Thomas Frank sacked
Mauricio Pochettino has been tipped to make a sensational return to Tottenham amid growing calls for Thomas Frank to be sacked.
Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Spurs will “certainly” consider a reunion with their former boss in an attempt to appease the fans.
Pochettino is currently preparing to lead the U.S.M.N.T at the World Cup this coming summer, but could become available following the tournament.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 10 January that Frank needs results against Villa and West Ham, who they play next in the league, to ease pressure on his position.
Tottenham lost 2-1 to Aston Villa last time out and were eliminated from the FA Cup in the third round, while their dismal league form has compounded the frustrations.

Mauricio Pochettino tipped for sensational Tottenham return
Tottenham fans have long called for Pochettino’s return, and the 53-year-old has retained the love of the supporters six years following his departure.
Should Frank lose his job in the near future, be it now or at the end of the season, the U.S.A boss is expected to be high on the list of potential replacements.
“It’s certainly something Tottenham are going to consider,” Brown told Football Insider.
“Pochettino is a fans’ favourite, they still think the world of him after what he did during his time there despite the fact it ultimately ended badly.
“The fans haven’t been happy recently, they weren’t happy under [Ange] Postecoglou, they’re not happy under Frank, and that’s never a good situation.
“Bringing Pochettino back would be a sure-fire way to get them back onside.
“If he’s available after the World Cup, he might be looking to get back into club management, and it would make sense for Tottenham to make that move.
“The pressure keeps building on Frank, it’s becoming more and more difficult for him with the results, the fans on his back, will he be given time?
“It’s a case of wait and see what happens with him, but if they decide to part ways, Pochettino coming back is going to be a distinct possibility.”
Thomas Frank sack update emerges at Tottenham
Brown warned Football Insider on 12 January that Frank will be sacked by Tottenham if results to not take an immediate turn for the better.
The former scout warned that Spurs’ star players don’t appear to be performing for the manager, and are doing little to ease the pressure on his position.
A number of star players have turned in inconsistent performances amid fears they have not bought in to the new style of play under Frank.

Brown warned Football Insider on 7 January that Tottenham are concerned about dressing room unrest, with frustrations growing behind the scenes.
However, there are doubts about whether the players will step up in what is becoming an increasingly toxic situation both on and off the pitch.
