Mauricio Pochettino: Man United told to ‘go and get’ manager after source’s update

Danny Mills has told Man United to “go and get” Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and Leeds United defender questioned why Man United were not able to lure Pochettino when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in November last year (2021).

The Manchester Evening News reported yesterday (9 February) the players want the former Spurs boss to take over at the end of the season when Ralf Rangnick leaves his temporary role.

A club source told Football Insider the same day he would want his old Tottenham ally Steve Hitchen to join him in a recruitment role at Old Trafford.

“It’s been mooted and talked about for a long time, Pochettino as the next man through the door,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Why didn’t they go and get him? People will say he wasn’t available but you’re Manchester United, make him available.

“You’ve got enough money to make him available and do what you want to do as one of the biggest and richest clubs in the world still. You make things happen.

“He’ll be in there, Ten Hag will be mentioned in it as well.

“They need to get this appointment right and make sure they have a longer-term plan to make sure they don’t keep going down these little rabbit holes of a couple of years and then it going wrong.”

Pochettino has been in charge of Paris Saint-Germain since the beginning of January 2021 and is under contract until the summer of 2023.

PSG have already been knocked out of the French Cup but remain in the Champions League and top of Ligue 1.
