Max Allegri ‘contender for West Ham job’ after Julen Lopetegui sack

Max Allegri has reportedly emerged as a leading contender for the West Ham managerial role should the club decide to part ways with Julen Lopetegui.

The Guardian claim that the Irons were wasting no time drawing up their list of successors for Lopetegui ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Leicesterwith former Juventus manager Max Allegri on their shortlist. 

A decision to sack Lopetegui has not yet been made by the Hammers hierarchy but Allegri was spotted in London recently.

Other managers reportedly on West Ham’s radar include former Porto boss Sergio Conceicao and Graham Potter, who has been out of work since leaving Chelsea in April 2023.

Conceicao is also understood to be attracted to the prospect of working at the London Stadium although West Ham are yet to have made contact with him.

Former Porto boss Sérgio Conceição is a serious contender with an impressive pedigree, having guided Porto to three league titles and twice steering them to the Champions League quarter-finals. The Portuguese ace’s achievements underline his credentials as a top-tier manager.

Graham Potter is also a strong candidate, particularly given his Premier League experience, which sets him apart from the other contenders. The Englishman guided Brighton to their best-ever Premier League start in the 2022/23 season, earning 13 points from their first six matches and leaving the Seagulls in fourth place before moving to Chelsea.
