McAvennie can’t believe Van Bronckhorst treatment of Rangers ‘best player’ Steven Davis
Frank McAvennie is surprised Steven Davis is struggling for game time at Rangers.
The former Celtic hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the midfielder is the best player at Ibrox.
Davis, 37, has only made four appearances under Giovanni van Bronckhorst after making 17 under Steven Gerrard earlier this season.

A knee injury has kept the midfielder on the sidelines but he has only appeared in two league games from eight when fit under his new manager.
McAvennie can’t believe Davis isn’t playing more considering his quality.
“Look at Steven Davis, he’s Rangers’ best player and he can’t get a look in,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“You now have Ramsey in there as well so there is even more competition.
“I really rate him and to be honest I’m surprised he isn’t starting more. It’s like he’s been permanently benched.
“He brings a calmness to that midfield. Gerrard was obviously a big fan of his because he played every week.
“I know he had a bit of an injury but he’s not even getting off the bench now.
“He will be useful in those big games at the end of the season so I’m sure his season isn’t over or anything like that.
“It just surprises me that he can’t really get a game at the moment.”

Davis’ last appearance came on Sunday (6 February) as he played five minutes off the bench against Hearts.
Before that, his last league appearance came on 1 December.
