McAvennie claims Edouard could snub offers and stay at Celtic this summer
Odsonne Edouard may see out the final year of his Celtic contract before leaving the club as a free agent next summer.
That’s according to former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Edouard’s future.
Last month (April 21st), this site revealed Borussia Dortmund have joined the race to sign the French striker who will enter the final year of his Celtic contract in just over a month.
Football Insider understands West Ham are in pole position to land Edouard and are currently laying the groundwork for a deal in the upcoming window.
Celtic fear they may lose their striker for as little as £8-10million at the end of the season given his contract situation.
However, McAvennie makes the unexpected claim that Edouard may honour his contract and leave for free at the end of next season.

“The rumours are rife that Edouard wants to leave,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“But you just don’t know until it happens. Maybe a new manager will convince him to stay.
“He’s not done well this year, he’s got a year left on his contract and he might honour that.
“He’ll want to make up for this year, he’s not been good enough. The only thing then is if the club are happy to lose him for nothing next summer.
“Celtic won’t want that. It’s all up to the player but I’m struggling to see him going this summer.”
Edouard scored in last week’s Old Firm though his header proved to be nothing but consolation in the 4-1 loss.
The goal was his 17th in the Scottish Premiership this season.
