Pundit issues ‘big’ Tottenham claim after Sky’s Hugo Lloris update
Frank McAvennie has insisted Hugo Lloris will be a “big miss” for Tottenham as he recovers from injury.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Lloris’ absence gives Fraser Forster the chance to prove himself to Antonio Conte.
As reported by Sky Sports (19 September), Lloris was forced to withdraw from the France squad for games against Austria and Denmark after picking up a thigh injury.
Summer signing Fraser Forster is expected to replace the 35-year-old if he cannot overcome the problem for Saturday’s game against Arsenal.
McAvennie suggested that Lloris’ absence could pave the way for Forster to break into the first team.
“It’s a big miss but it gives the guy at number two the chance to come in,” he told Football Insider.
“If he’s not good enough to fill in then why’s he there? Sometimes the number twos come in, play out their skin and the number one doesn’t get back in.
“Most of the team are not big names, he’s just got a good team spirit and good team bonding and Lloris is part of that so he’ll be missed. It’s clicking, they’re all on the same wave length so it’s a good team he’s building rather than a team full of superstars.“

Lloris has started all of Spurs’ Premier League games so far this season.
Forster is yet to make an appearance for Conte’s side this season after joining from Southampton this summer.
