McAvennie issues ‘massive’ Aston Villa claim after source’s Mauricio Pochettino update
Frank McAvennie has backed Mauricio Pochettino to replace Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said “something is not right” with Steven Gerrard and insisted he is not getting the most out of his players.
On Monday (17 October), sources told this site that Villa are set to sack Gerrard after their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.

The Villans have sounded out Pochettino as a potential replacement for the former Liverpool star.
However on Wednesday (19 October), this site revealed that Pochettino has major doubts over taking the job due to the squad.
The 50-year-old is worried about players such as Philippe Coutinho and Douglas Luiz who he fears will be unable to adapt to his high-intensity playing style.
However, McAvennie is confident the Argentinian could be persuaded by the move to a “massive” club.
“They could get Pochettino because it is a big club,” he told Football Insider.
“It is a massive club. Do they have the players? Yes. Should they be doing better? Of course they should.
“Something is not right. It just shows you, Everton are not doing well with Frank Lampard.

“Gerrard has got to keep the players on side. He is not even showing himself to the crowd at the moment. He has got to keep the fans on side. If he is not waving and saying thanks to the fans, that is not a good sign.
“They have bought some decent players but they have not done enough for me.“
In other news, Agbonlahor has tipped Aston Villa to accept ‘£60m’ Douglas Luiz bid from Arsenal.
