McAvennie verdict on behind-the-scenes Joe Hart drama amid Celtic latest – ‘he’s got a problem’
Frank McAvennie has praised Joe Hart’s bravery for Celtic against Dundee United on Sunday (28 August).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker suggested that Steven Fletcher may have a “problem” behind the scenes with Hart that dates back to their time in the Premier League.
In the first half of the game at Tannadice, Hart tipped the ball away from the feet of United forward Fletcher just as he was about to put the ball in an empty net.
Fletcher’s studs caught Hart in the head causing the Celtic shot-stopper to need on-pitch treatment for the injury.
The former Sunderland striker was booked for the incident.
The Bhoys went on to win the game 9-0.
Hart has started between the sticks for all of the Glasgow club’s games so far this season.
McAvennie said opposition forwards can struggle with the way Ange Postecoglou’s side play.
“When you’re playing against Celtic you can get frustrated with the way Celtic play,” he told Football Insider.
“I don’t know if he’s got a problem because the two of them played in England because there’s no way you leave your studs in like that.

“You don’t mean to hurt anyone and I’d hate to think an experienced professional like Fletcher would want to hurt Joe.
“Joe was brave. On another day he might have been off but I wouldn’t make too much out of it.“
