McAvennie ‘wowed’ by Man United after Erik ten Hag confession – ‘what’s going to happen?’
Frank McAvennie has claimed Man United are “being taught a lesson” in the Premier League this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-West Ham striker “doesn’t know” what will happen with United for the rest of the 2022-23 campaign.
The Red Devils have suffered defeat in their first two league games of the season.
They were beaten 2-1 by Brighton in their season opener last Saturday (6 August) and 4-0 by Brentford on Saturday (13 August).
Speaking to club media after the defeat to Bees (13 August), Erik Ten Hag confessed his side didn’t make “the right decisions” during the game.
He added that the players need to take responsibility for the mistakes made on the pitch.
The Daily Mail reported (14 August) that Ten Hag became the first United boss in over 100 years to lose the opening two games of a Premier League season after the defeat at the weekend.
McAvennie claimed teams are no longer scared to play against United.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen with Man United,” he told Football Insider.
“Ten Hag has come in and they’re doing things in pre-season and they’re looking good and I’m thinking wow.

“But getting beaten in the first game by Brighton is not a good start. Brighton are a good team and they know how to play in the Premier League now but Man United are getting taught a lesson.
“People aren’t afraid of them anymore.“
