McLeish makes ‘killer’ Harrison claim as embarrassing Leeds reveal emerges
Alex McLeish has suggested Jack Harrison may be devoid of confidence at Leeds United after Tuesday’s League Cup defeat to Arsenal.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted a lack of self-belief can be a “killer” for any player.
Having been hooked at half time in the 1-1 draw with Wolves, Harrison played the full 90 in the 2-0 loss against the Gunners.

However, the 24-year-old struggled to make an impact against the north Londoners.
He failed to make a single successful dribble, lost possession the joint-most of any Leeds player and had the worst pass success percentage (59%) of either side’s starting XI (WhoScored).
McLeish suggested Harrison was “trying too hard” after a slow start to the season for both player and club.
He insisted the winger needs to find a way to rediscover his self-belief.
Discussing Harrison’s performances, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I would put it down to confidence.
“No player wants to go out and not perform. Maybe he’s trying too hard.
“That is a real killer in any sport, when an individual loses confidence. Him and Leeds are going through a bad run.
“Leeds have lost that wee bit, last year they were winning one week, the next week losing. They won a couple in a row that took them up the table.”
Harrison joined Leeds permanently from Manchester City this summer after three successive loan spells.

He is yet to score or assist in seven Premier League appearances this term.
However, he did net twice and set up another goal in the 3-0 League Cup win over Crewe Alexandra.
