McLeish shares ‘extraordinary’ Alfredo Morelos claim amid Rangers latest
Rangers will struggle to sell Alfredo Morelos in the final week of the transfer window.
That’s according to former Gers boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the striker’s future.
The 26-year-old was sent off in Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Hibernian on Saturday (20 August).
The striker was shown a straight red for an elbow on Marijan Cabraja.
Morelos was subsequently dropped from the squad for Wednesday’s 1-0 (34 August) win over PSV.
McLeish claims clubs won’t want to sign Morelos due to his recent behaviour.
“It seems that this has come to a head now,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“He was left out of the squad after being sent off last week. He has got a few red cards over the years.
“When he was at his prime there was speculation about him leaving the club, maybe Rangers should have cashed in.
“Possibly, now, teams will be looking and thinking they don’t want to sign him. It was a huge credit to Rangers that they got through one of their biggest games for years without Morelos.
“I don’t see Premier League clubs wanting him. Morelos might have to dig his heels in now and do something extraordinary to sort out a move.
“How are Rangers going to sell him those accusations against him?”

As revealed by The Sun (22 August), Morelos has now received the most red cards in the club’s history.
He has been sent off eight times since his debut for the Ibrox club in 2017.
