McManus backs Celtic response after club suffers from ‘shocking’ development
Celtic are right to ask questions of the SFA after a string of contentious VAR decisions.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the controversial incident.
As shown on Sky Sports (2 January), the 30-year-old appears to handle the ball as Carl Starfelt hit a strike from close range.

Beaton waved away Celtic’s claims for a penalty and VAR Willie Collum did not send referee John Beaton to re-watch the incident.
The Daily Record has since reported (4 January) Celtic will raise concerns with the Scottish FA about the use of VAR after the club were left baffled by the decision to not send Beaton to the monitor.
McManus insists the hoops have a strong case.
“I think they do have a case,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“There have been a couple of handball incidents at Parkhead as well, against Ross County and Dundee United off the top of my head.
“Celtic had one away at Hearts where it definitely should have been a penalty and it wasn’t given. Celtic have the right to ask what is going on.
“Everyone who watched the Old Firm thought that was a penalty against Goldson. His hands are way up and away from his body.
“I think Ange and the club need to go and ask that question because it is so inconsistent. One week you get it and one week you don’t, it’s shocking.

“It needs to be black and white. It’s very grey at the moment and there are very similar decisions we have seen where the penalty is given.
“It must be infuriating for fans because they don’t know what the rules are. Celtic are right to have a word with the SFA.”
