McManus shares verdict on Nathan Patterson re-signing for Rangers as new details emerge
Nathan Patterson won’t be leaving Everton anytime soon despite his recent comments about a return to Rangers.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s future.
During the first half of the season, Patterson, 21, finally nailed down a starting spot in the Everton side after initially struggling for game time following his arrival from Rangers in January.

However, as quoted by the Daily Record (11 December), the Scotland international said he has “unfinished business” at Ibrox and would “love” to return.
McManus insists Patterson should stay at Goodison Park and make a name for himself in England.
“It’s not helped that he joined a team that’s struggling,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“Everton have been struggling for a couple of seasons now. From what I have seen the supporters really like Nathan and get behind him.
“He has so much time to go and become a proper regular for Everton but it would be easier for him if he was in a team that was doing well.
“Everton get beat most weeks now. He needs to try and get 50 or 60 games under his belt then we will know if he is a regular or if he needs to move.

“I don’t mind him talking about Rangers, he’s a fan. I’m sure he is fully focused on helping Everton get up the table.
“He’s so young he can do anything he wants to in the game. I’m sure he’ll be staying at Everton for the time being.”
