Medical completed: Ipswich finalise signing of Everton star Nathan Broadhead – Sources

Everton forward Nathan Broadhead has agreed a deal to join Ipswich Town and completed a medical, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-yr-old has been granted permission to join the League One promotion hopefuls after they agreed a fee of £1.5million with Everton.

Everton have accepted Ipswich’s offer for Broadhead as they look to raise funds for their own signings this month.

Broadhead spent the first half of this season on loan at Wigan, scoring five goals in 22 appearances.

He was recalled to Goodison Park earlier this month alongside Ellis Simms – who had also impressed in his own Championship loan.

Broadhead is now set to become Ipswich’s second new striker arrival this month following the signing of George Hirst on loan from Leicester City.

The 24-year-old is an experienced operator at League One level, having notched 12 goals in 39 appearances in loan spells at Sunderland and Burton in recent seasons.

However, the striker has failed to make a significant impact for Everton in the Premier League – playing just twice for the Toffees after showing promise at youth level.

The former Wales Under-21 international’s Everton contract was set to expire at the end of the season.

He is primarily a centre-forward but can operate on both flanks in a three-pronged attack, as well as in an attacking midfield berth.

Ipswich, managed by up-and-coming boss Kieran McKenna, sit third in League One and have built a nine-point buffer to fourth place as they target automatic promotion this season.

Broadhead and Hirst will jostle with nine-goal forward Freddie Ladapo for a starting berth at Portman Road.

In other news, pundit claims Everton are about to suffer “huge blow” in transfer market – “it’s a complete mess”.
