Medical expert issues ‘brilliant’ Tottenham update ahead of Arsenal showdown

Both Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison may feature for Tottenham this weekend after making “brilliant” recoveries from injury.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

Football Insider sources revealed on Wednesday (11 January) that Kulusevski is on course to make his eagerly-anticipated Tottenham comeback against Arsenal on Sunday.

The 22-year-old winger was spotted back in Spurs training this week as he prepares to make his comeback from a muscle injury.

Richarlison’s last appearances for Spurs came in early November after the Brazilian suffered a major hamstring injury while at the World Cup.

But Dinnery is hopeful that Richarlison could join Kulusevski in the Spurs squad this weekend, although a starting spot is unlikely.

“I definitely think Kulusevski will be in the squad, I fully expect that as he’s a big player for Tottenham,” Dinnery told Football Insider.

“But they will have to pay close attention as there are plenty of issues with muscular problems.

“And then you can also factor in the performances of Bryan Gil who was a player that had been touted to potentially go out on loan this month.

“Even Richarlison could be back in contention as well for that north London Derby, with both players making a brilliant recovery.

“There are plenty of opportunities for Antonio Conte and Spurs, but I think Kulusevski may just miss out on playing in that usual trio alongside Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.

“But minutes from the bench is definitely a realistic expectation for both players.”
