Medical expert: Rangers fans will be ‘absolutely gutted’ after Aaron Ramsey injury latest

Rangers fans will be “gutted” that Aaron Ramsey has not yet been able to play regularly – and his latest knock will only make matters worse.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Ramsey has played a combined total of 94 minutes across four matches since he joined Rangers on loan from Juventus in January.

Rangers

But a knock ruled him out for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side’s 1-1 draw against Dundee United last Sunday (20 February).

And per the Daily Record yesterday (23 February), the manager confirmed 31-year-old would not be available to face Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night.

Dinnery predicts that the midfielder’s lack of minutes will make it harder for the Welshman to get back up to speed.

“There’s absolutely no doubting his quality,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“But for context, he has actually played more minutes for Wales than he has at club level this year. That’s a worry.

“This little knock is nothing major when looked at in the grand scheme of things.

“But it has that knock-on effect of him not being able to get minutes on the training pitch and also not being able to get competitive minutes into his legs.

“It’s that drip-drip effect. It’s more frustrating than anything else. You want players of that ilk to be out there playing.

“The supporters will be absolutely gutted. They’re dying to see him out there playing regularly.

“There is nothing overtly to worry about but the knock-on effect could delay his ability to get back to full match fitness.”

Rangers

Rangers have a 4-2 aggregate lead heading into tonight’s European clash at Ibrox.

Ramsey played just 112 minutes across five matches for Juve in the first half 2021-22.
