Medical expert: Tottenham fear another Richarlison setback as update emerges
Tottenham have planned a second MRI scan for Richarlison’s hamstring injury as they are being extremely cautious about his chances of re-injury.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
Richarlison was a star for Brazil in the 2022 World Cup, but the 25-year-old’s time in Qatar was cut short by a hamstring injury.

Antonio Conte confirmed to The Athletic on Tuesday (3 January) that Richarlison will have “another MRI to understand the situation”.
Spurs’ £60million summer signing has already undergone one MRI test, but the club’s medical staff is keen to put him through another to ensure he recovers fully from what is a serious setback.
Dinnery believes Spurs are being extra cautious with Richarlison’s injury as hamstring issues are “notorious” for causing future setbacks even after recovery.
“Tottenham don’t want to leave any stone unturned,” the medical expert told Football Insider.
“You want to make sure that every possible avenue is being covered because they want to ensure that somebody like Richarlison is back among the ranks and performing.
“But once he returns, you need him to stay fit, and hamstring injuries are unfortunately notorious for being problematic in terms of their re-injury rates.
“Typically the main concern is within the first one or two months after recovering from a hamstring problem, particularly if it’s been a fairly serious one, which this one has.

“So Tottenham are being extremely cautious because quite easily a player can suffer a reaction or a setback that could keep them on the sidelines even longer.
“So it’s just about making sure that that hamstring is recovering as it should.“
