Medical Insider: West Ham star Nayef Aguerd has ‘high-end grade one’ injury
Nayef Ageurd could return for West Ham before the end of the year.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
Ageurd missed Morocco’s last two World Cup games but was named in the starting line-up for the 2-0 loss to France on Wednesday (14 December) in the semi-finals before being withdrawn due to illness.
The London Evening Standard reported on Thursday (15 December) that the 26-year-old is set to return to Rush Green on 23 December.
“These one-off games, a World Cup semi-final, the players are going to be prepared to put everything on the line and push their bodies harder than they probably have before and take that risk because of the opportunity to play on the biggest stage of world football against Argentina in the final,” Dinnery told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“Of course, they are going to go out and do absolutely everything they can to go out and do that. You’ve just got to hope the injury isn’t exasperated any further.

“The Ageurd problem was not believed to be too serious, we’re probably talking about a high-end grade one. In and around that seven to 10 or potentially 21 days out.
“If he was not going to play for Morocco then realistically that gives him a good chance of playing for West Ham before the end of the year. If he did play it was just about keeping your fingers crossed that he didn’t exasparate the problem too much.”
In other news, Kieran Maguire has tipped an “auction” for West Ham as the “deal of the century” is cited.
