Everton have scheduled a medical for Swansea star Gylfi Sigurdsson as they prepare to thrash out a deal over the weekend, according to a report.
Former senior Sky Sports reporter Graeme Bailey has wrote for the Gambling Times that a deal which will see the 27-year-old move to Goodison Park is set to be sealed.
It is said that the Toffees will smash their transfer record to land the Iceland international and are set to offer in the region of £50million for the attacker.
The club’s current record signing is goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who joined for £30million earlier in the summer from Sunderland, meaning Sigurdsson’s signing would top that by a massive £20million.
Everton have been linked with a move for the Swans star throughout the summer and on Monday odds tumbled on the Toffees picking him up to 1/7.
The former Tottenham and Reading man has hugely impressed during his time in England and in the Premier League he boasts a fine record of 42 goals and 34 assists in 182 matches in total.
Football Insider verdict:
It will be a disappointing window for Everton if they don’t pick up Sigurdsson after all the speculation this summer. The attacker is thought of among the best in the Premier League and he could be the difference to the Toffees finishing in seventh or a Champions League place next season. The assist king has shown at Swansea that he can create something out of nothing and that forwards thrive from playing off him. Now, given Everton’s new look attack, which includes both Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney, Sigurdsson could be the perfect player to set-up chances for the two.
