Man United midfielder James Garner is undergoing a Nottingham Forest medical on Saturday morning, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

This site first broke the news on Friday (29 January) that United and Watford had agreed to terminate his season-long loan deal.

Now, a United source has told Football Insider that Garner, 19, is headed to Forest after they won the race to take him on loan for the second half of the season.

The highly-rated youngster is due for medical tests on Saturday morning before completing a move to the City Ground.

It is regarded as a major coup for Forest and their manager Chris Hughton, with QPR also linked with signing him this month.

Garner headed out of Watford after being demoted in the team since since Xisco Munez took over as manager on December 21.

He was a regular starter for the Championship outfit in the first half of the campaign, but has been limited to two sub appearances in their last six league matches.

Former United midfielder Tom Cleverly is a regular in the Hornets midfield and has been partnered by Will Hughes or Nathaniel Chalobah.

Garner , who made 12 league starts among 22 appearances for Watford this season, will hope to be a regular at Forest.

The England Under-20 international has regularly been touted as a future star and has already played seven times for the United first team.
