Derby County defender Max Lowe is undergoing a medical at Sheffield United today as he puts the finishing touches on a move to Bramall Lane, Football Insider can reveal.

The 23-year-old is set to join Chris Wilder's side along with Derby teammate Jayden Bogle after both were left out of the Rams Carabao Cup squad to face Barrow this weekend.

Lowe has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Pride Park and the Championship side want to cash in now rather than risk losing him on a free next year.

He made 31 appearances for Phillip Cocu's side last season but ended the 2019/20 campaign as second-choice left-back behind Craig Forsyth.

While he was not a regular at the back end of the season, the full-back's contract situation convinced Sheffield United to offer the Englishman Premier League football.

Football Insider understands that a deal for Bogle is also very close after Chris Wilder prioritised the signing of a new right-back this month.

George Baldock started every league game last season and Wilder wants Bogle to provide the 27-year-old some much-needed competition on the right side of the defence.

The Blades have been relatively quiet in this summer's transfer window and have only added goalkeepers to their ranks.

Aaron Ramsdale was resigned for a club-record £18.5million fee and Wes Foderingham joined from Rangers as the club looked to cover the loss of Dean Henderson who returned to Manchester United after a successful loan spell at Bramall Lane last year.

Lowe and Bogle could be available for next Monday's Premier League opener against Wolves if medicals are passed and personal terms are agreed.
