Medical underway: Cardiff City agree to sign Nottingham Forest star Ethan Horvath

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath is having a medical at Cardiff City ahead of a permanent move, sources have told Football Insider.

The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the City Ground having not made a single appearance this season.

He had an impressive loan spell at Luton Town last season where he helped them achieve promotion to the Premier League, but did not feature in the plans of former Forest boss Steve Cooper or current manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

The American made the matchday squad for Forest for the opening four games in the Premier League but was replaced by summer signing Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Sources have also told Football Insider (1 February) that Forest are working on a late move for Strasbourg goalkeeper Matz Sels to solve their goalkeeping issues.

Horvath moved to Forest from Club Brugge in 2021 but only made 11 competitive appearances across two-and-a-half seasons.

Forest have also agreed a deal with Sheffield United to let Joe Worrall go on loan for the remainder of the season, with Football Insider revealing (1 February) that he is now scheduled to have a medical with the Blades.

Cardiff

Forest sit 16th in the Premier League table following their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on Tuesday (30 January), while Cardiff sit 14th in the Championship after their defeat to Plymouth Argyle.

The Reds next face Bournemouth away on Sunday afternoon (4 February), while the Blues take on Watford at Vicarage Road.
