Meslier told to reject £30m Leeds move – Agbonlahor
Illan Meslier should stay at Leeds United and help them gain promotion back to the Premier League.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that the French keeper should stay in the Championship despite links with a move away from the club.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Sunday (25 June) that Leeds United are willing to listen to offers for the goalkeeper and the club have informed the 23-year-old that he is free to leave Elland Road this summer if a bid arrives and meets the club’s valuation.
Leeds had previously hoped to secure a £40million-plus fee for Meslier, but his poor form in the final months of the 2022/23 season means that a bid of £30million could now seal a deal.
Meslier was a first-team regular for United last season, making 38 appearances across all competitions and keeping five clean sheets.
With a potential exit on the cards, Agbonlahor believes that the French goalkeeper should stay the club to further enhance his experience.
“I think he should stay in the Championship and get more experience,” He told Football insider.

“He should prove that he is able to bounce back because at the moment he is not the level of a Premier League goalkeeper.
“He proved that with many mistakes, so I feel like he needs to build up his confidence by going to the Championship, as he is still very young so this will help him gain experience before going back to the Premier League.”
